Counselors and Psychologists

 

Each of our clinicians has significant, unique experience in a variety of areas. This breadth of expertise allows Trinity Center to offer services that meet the needs of our diverse community.  All clinicians have master's level or doctoral degrees and are licensed in their fields.

Amy Shuman, MAEd
Executive Director
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor - Supervisor

Amy works with clients 17 and older and has extensive experience working with college students. Her clinical areas of interest include anxiety, eating disorders, relationship issues, self-acceptance, personal growth and life transitions.

Joshua Ziesel, PsyD
Assistant Director, Staff Psychologist
Licensed Psychologist

Joshua provides therapy to individuals ages 16 and up, to couples, and to families. He also facilitates interpersonal process groups. Key populations he has advanced training with include people of international and/or LGBTQIA+ backgrounds, and male-identified individuals.  His specialties include intersectional identity formation and development, family issues, relationships, men's issues, spirituality, and sexuality.

Erin Binkley, PhD
Adjunct Counselor

Erin works with individual adults and adolescents ages 12 and older.  Her areas of interest include trauma, interpersonal relationships, identity development, life transitions, and supporting clients experiencing physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.

Andréa Cantarelli, PsyD
Staff Psychologist
Licensed Psychologist

Andréa works with adults and teens ages 16 and up and with couples. She has experience working with a broad range of presenting concerns and has worked in university settings for the past 10 years. Her special interests are developmental milestones, lifespan transitions, military service and families, immigration and acculturation, minority stress, identity development, sexual orientation, and relationship issues. Andréa has foreign language fluency in Spanish and Portuguese and is trained in EMDR.

Ann is one of the original founders of Trinity Center. She sees adults with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, communication difficulties, relationship issues and vocational changes.

Jackie Friedman, PhD
Adjunct Psychologist
Licensed Psychologist 

Jackie provides psychoeducational assessments for clients from age 7 through adulthood. She has extensive experience and training in assessment for ADHD and Learning Disorders for the school-aged and college-aged populations.

Rebecca Fogley, PsyD
Clinical Director, Staff Psychologist
Licensed Psychologist

Becca provides individual therapy to adults of all ages and adolescents age 16 and older. She has experience working with a broad range of presenting concerns in university and hospital settings. Areas of particular interest include trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, and identity concerns.

Johnne Armentrout, MAEd

Johnne sees adult individuals and couples and has extensive experience working with college students. 

She has special interests in anxiety, depression, lifespan transitions including post-divorce and pre/post retirement, relationship and family of origin issues, grief and loss, sexual orientation, self-esteem, 

perfectionism, faith and spirituality, and life balance.

Alan Cameron, PhD

Licensed Psychologist 

Alan sees adults 18 and up and has extensive experience working with college students. In addition to 

anxiety and depression, his special areas of interests include relationship and family of origin issues, 

sexual orientation, gender identity, career/vocational issues, and ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics).

Amy sees clients age 18 and up. She has special interests in anxiety, adjustment and life transitions, parenting concerns, relationship issues, grief and loss, cancer diagnosis/treatment and caregiver support.

Mary Beth Edens, MAEd

Mary Beth sees children, adolescents and adults and has extensive school counseling experience. She 

values using creativity in counseling and her special areas of interest include anxiety, depression, family 

changes, friendship skills, school-related concerns, ADHD and parenting.

Beth sees adults and adolescents, and has special interests in working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, sexual orientation, gender identity, self-esteem, perfectionism, relationship concerns, family of origin issues and faith and spirituality.

Kelly sees adults and adolescents. Her special areas of interest include depression, anxiety, trauma recovery, eating disorders, grief and loss, faith and spirituality, and personal growth.

Adelaide Palermo, MAEd
Adjunct Counselor
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Adelaide sees adults 18 and up. Adelaide's style is supportive, and her focus areas include anxiety, 

depression, faith and spirituality, balancing life priorities, personal growth, and intercultural work.

Sarah S. Talley, MSW
Staff Counselor
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Sarah enjoys working with children, teens, and adults. Areas of interest are anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, adjustment and life transitions, grief and loss, and parenting. Sarah is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR.

Courtney Zahner, MA
Adjunct Clinician, Assessment
Licensed Psychological Associate

Courtney provides testing for clients of all ages referred by Disability Determination Services of NC.

Spiritual Direction 

 

Spiritual direction is individualized guidance and training for stengthening one's personal relationship with God. Spiritual Directors work with clients as they seek to discern God's will for their lives. The spiritual director is an experienced Christian who shares his or her own life of prayer and acts as a companion and guide who is familiar with the pain, the pitfalls, and the promise.  

 

 

 

 

 

David Fouche, MDiv 
Spiritual Director

David has been serving as a spiritual director at Trinity Center since 1996 and in addition to his time here, has extensive experience working in a university setting. He incorporates music, art, scripture meditation, the spiritual classics, nature, and the wisdom of many religious traditions in his work with clients.
